Thorough and expert advice on all
aspects of education provision.

Saltworks provides thorough and expert advice to parents and carers dealing with all aspects of education provision.

We can protect your children’s right to education while acting for you in matters involving discrimination, investigations, assessments and appeals or when you are simply concerned about your child’s education provider.

We’re confident that we can help your child to access the education they need.

AREAS OF PRACTICE

Admission appeals
If your child is refused a place at your preferred school, you can appeal that decision. We provide expert legal advice on your appeal against your local authority. As the UK approaches National Offer Day in March 2024 for state school places, do not hesitate to contact us for expert advice on admission appeals.

School exclusion appeals
Your child can be excluded from school for a number of reasons, including for alleged behavioural issues. If you feel your child has been unfairly excluded, we will provide you with impartial advice and represent you in your exclusion appeal.

School inclusion
We advise on inadequate provision of education to children by schools. We deal with complaints to schools about education provided to migrant children, when neurodiverse children do not receive adequate support in class and for those who are gender questioning.

SEND assessments and EHC plans
Too often parents and carers assert that children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and with EHC (Education and Health Care) plans receive inadequate provision at school. We can advise you on EHC plans and claims against the education provider in the SEND tribunal.

Department for Education statistics also show that post-pandemic, there has been an increase in penalty notices issued to parents and carers for school absences, many of these to SEND children. Instruct us to fight these on your behalf and ensure that your child’s right to an education is protected.

If you have been issued with penalty notices for school absence resulting from your child’s loss of social and/or academic confidence, you also have the right to protect your child’s right to education.
